Alex Phillip was born in East Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to the Bay Area in Northern California in 2004. Alex is the son of Karen Richardson and the late James Phillip Richardson, the younger brother and only sibling to Byron Richardson (AKA Byron James).

Alex played football (cornerback) from the time he was 8 years old until his final year of junior college. Shortly after he transferred to California State University of Sacramento he became fascinated by the world of theatre. 

While attending Sacramento State, Alex joined the theatre program in the Fall of 2016. In the Spring of 2019, he graduated with his degree in theatre. Alex currently trains at Z/A Studios with Rob Zimmerman and Peter Allas in Los Angeles.

In his spare time you may find him trying his hand at cooking new dishes, yelling at the television whenever his Cleveland sports teams are on, playing Arc Raiders, the latest NBA 2k, or at the movies. Alex resides in LA County.
